Spec Boards
Theoretical car commercial boards for the ol' portfolio. I need to expand my market. Some more recent news- I was working on the Lady Gaga Concert Tour, storyboarding. She wasn't going to let the cancellation of her tour with Kanye shut things down for her. So I was brought on by the same director and drew up some boards for a pretty spectacular show. I can't wait to show them!

Angler Poster
This is the Angler poster I've been working on, not complete and won't be for this version (maybe I'll finish it for kicks). I'm revising it right now; a revision which will be different, compositionally, but will still have some elements that I'll be able to salvage.
Been hitting this project pretty hard this past week. The week before, I was working for the Angler project as well as the Kanye West/Lady Gaga World Tour. Nice gig.

Comic Story Panels
There's some new work on my site http://seanpetrilak.com/story.htm that is sort of a test run/excerpt from a comic I'm creating, with the help of my good friend and writer, Richard Bashara (Zombie Bank, see the link list). This isn't the format, not the style; but the panels serve a purpose of exploring characters and action.
The comic itself is a deeply philosophical, yet still crude and full of action. There's more to come...lots more!

Hitchcock Frame Grabs!
If I may quote the great Eric Cartman: "Oh my Jesus Christ monkey balls..." I just found an enormous screen grab library of every shot of every Hitchcock movie ever made. Hot-tot-tot-tot!! Ennnnnjoooy http://www.hitchcockwiki.com/wiki/1000_Frames_of_Hitchcock

Turtle
This is Turtle- a creepy, calloused, kermudgen from a horror flick I'm working on right now; "The Angler" (working title). Turtle is a bait shop owner in this mariner-themed film, set in the wet lands of Florida. There's more work to come for this one, including the bait shop to this humpty dumpty. So check back later!

Garth
Howdy all! This is a concept piece I did for the Sci-fi feature "Second Coming". It's been just sitting in my folders for a while like a lot of other work I should post; but I haven't been blogging much lately.
So "he" is a living, breathing spaceship named Garth, and he's meant to resemble something between a stingray and a turtle. Think of it like the AI in Star Trek or 2001, but not homicidal and with a personality. The top one is the final version and the bottom one was the first. Mr. Ian Strandberg is going to work his magic and make Garth come to life, through the magic of modeling!

Interview With Zombie
Recently, a Twitter friend, Summer Suzuki made an interview of me as she does for many other artists from different crafts. I talked about my school experiences, creative process, history and so on. Here's the link to the page.
Summer is a talented illustrator and all-around artist. Check out her site as well and take a look around. She has some great reviews on art and film.
I've been IMMENSELY busy lately. All of my work is extremely confidential, so...someday. I'll be posting anything I come up with!

New Cover
I've been working on this one off-n-on for abouts a week. The purpose of dividing it in thirds was to use it as my new cover for my website and sectioning is going to allow you to click on a particular third of the piece and navigate you to either the storyboard, concept, or illustration areas of the site. The site will be structured the same, it just won't have the quick-n-dirty cover I put together so I had something to show a particular group of clients at the time. Now that I had the opportunity, I'm revisiting the design and giving the portfolio a proper representation.
So what is it? An Aztec-Frazetta-Mucha-Dune'ish whatchamahiggish. Who cares, it's sexy.

Lo Ciento
I've been really, really busy lately, and I apologize for not posting anything for a while. I'm out on location again, and will be for another two weeks; storyboarding and assistant editing. I'll be posting some pictures of of the location and some of the props that I made; including an entirely filled sketchbook of the character's (the main prop of the film :) )

New Website!
Yes, finally my new website is up and you may find it here! I guess it's time to shut down the old portfolio blog. I'll be active on this blog as well as my new site.

New Sketchbook!
There's the first eight pages of the sketchbook I started last week. I've been trying to get a little "me" time in with my drawing recently. It's refreshing. Sometimes you gotta take a break from all that drawing and just draw. Know what I mean?
Can you tell which film trilogy I watched this weekend?

Kitten of the Sea
PETA has announced their new campaign of ridding the word "fish" from society and replacing it with a more friendly name, so youngsters would feel hesitant to eat the fellers. The name they chose for our aquatic friends? Sea Kittens! Don't believe me? Check it out.
I like to think that I'm a progressive individual, so I'm proposing my new design for a popular treat.

Yay Toon Boom!
I loooooove Toon Boom Storyboard Pro. I know it's been around, but I finally took time to learn it (which took no time) and dove right into it's tools. It draws so much better than Sketchbook Pro with its vector-based, freehand lines. It does what it takes me to do in 5 apps, all at a one stop, cinematic extravaganza.
